One of the most significant world sports events of January has been Australian Open that started in Melbourne. Best tennis players of Uzbekistan Akgul Amanmuradova and Denis Istomin are among the participants.
Both had their first games at Melbourne Park on Tuesday. Amanmuradova failed to pick a strategy against the German player Kristina Barrois (0/6, 6/7) and, thus ending performances in singles, is now fully focused on the doubles and will play in a duo with experienced Thai Tamarine Tanasugarn.
Istomin, who was drawn to play against the 32nd seeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy, pleased his fans with a comprehensive win - 6/2, 6/2, 6/0. And in the second round that he has reached for third consecutive year in Melbourne he will meet with German Michael Berrer who also quite easily passed Belgian Christophe Vligena - 6/1, 6/2, 6/1.
